I just got off of a really frustrating, 45-minute call with an airline I am not too happy with right now.

The lack of self-actualization during winter

I have come to realize that I reach a point every winter when I do not look so eye-catching during my commutes to work. I think I have reached that point. As I looked down at my once-fashionable, black boots I bought in London, I saw nothing but big salt stains. My white J.Lo coat now looks like it's been stomped on in the mud, and I have a hole in my right glove.

I sat on the bus and thought to myself, I am not very self-actualized. I hope spring comes quick.

Just another day in the life of Betty.

Shoe destiny

Hallelujah. I found a pair of boots. And you know what...it was what I refer to as "shoe destiny". As I walked into Macy's shoe department, there they were....gray suede Steve Madden's. And you will not even believe it....these boots were the last pair they had...in my size....on sale for $35. It was shoe destiny.

I really want to keep boot shopping and pick up these, and even these (I am not kidding about the frog galoshes), but a girl has a mortgage to pay.

I'm in the market for a new pair of boots, so I hopped on the 'ol Zappos website to see what they had to offer, and this is what popped up as the 3rd choice when I selected "view all boots":Where to begin....let's start with, these are not even close to being boots. Secondly, who would wear these?! And last but not least, who in their right mind would pay $525, yes $525, for these "boots". Oh my.

Castaways & Jimmy Buffett...

Today I walked to work in freezing rain. Freezing rain that pelts you in the face. It was not fun. And it's not like I can hop in my car, turn on the heat, and make my way to work....I have to stand outside, wait for the bus, and pray that it's a good bus day.

BUT...there is hope. The days of Castaways and Jimmy Buffett are not too far off. In the meantime, I will put on my J.Lo coat, head out into the freezing rain, and maybe sing a little Margaritaville to myself.
