One, two, ready, begin....

I went to college for a degree in Elementary Education, and one of the required courses was Elementary School Music. During this course, we learned the importance of music in the classroom, as well as learn how to teach it from time to time. One of the requirements for this course was to learn how to play the recorder. Yes, I was in college, and had to sit in a circle with young adults, playing Mary Had A Little Lamb while trying not to squeak on the high notes. Even more entertaining, I had to be tested on my recorder-playing-skills. I'm sure I was loved by all of my Chi-O sisters the night before a big recorder test.

Another fun part of music class, having to conduct a "band" of college kids. Imagine a group of fraternity guys and sorority girls sitting in a circle, each with their own instrument (morraccas, xylophones, etc.), getting ready to play a rendition of Hot Cross Buns, while I get the group ready with a big "One, two, ready, begin...."

Happy Mom's Day!

One of the reasons why I love my mom: she runs through alleys in the city to cheer you on during the marathon. She's awesome.

Happy Mother's Day to all moms out there!

Wingdings

"The good news is we finished the template conversion project. The bad news is it's in wingdings."
- Eileen & I
*if the person in charge of this project happens to be a reader of this blog, we are kidding. Sort of.

My alto voice

"You were alto, I'm guessing?"
- Roshan, in response to my post below

MHS Ensembles

For all of my MHS friends/readers,

A couple of things related to this video (and please no questions as to why I was searching for MHS videos on YouTube)...

1. Why do the Ensembles girls now get to wear sassy black dresses and we had to wear button-down white shirts with bow ties?

2. I'm pretty sure we were much better under Mr. Homberg's direction, singing "The Rose" while holding long-stem red roses.
