One, two, ready, begin....

I went to college for a degree in Elementary Education, and one of the required courses was Elementary School Music. During this course, we learned the importance of music in the classroom, as well as learn how to teach it from time to time. One of the requirements for this course was to learn how to play the recorder. Yes, I was in college, and had to sit in a circle with young adults, playing Mary Had A Little Lamb while trying not to squeak on the high notes. Even more entertaining, I had to be tested on my recorder-playing-skills. I'm sure I was loved by all of my Chi-O sisters the night before a big recorder test.

Another fun part of music class, having to conduct a "band" of college kids. Imagine a group of fraternity guys and sorority girls sitting in a circle, each with their own instrument (morraccas, xylophones, etc.), getting ready to play a rendition of Hot Cross Buns, while I get the group ready with a big "One, two, ready, begin...."

I think we should incorporate recorder playing in our everyday life. Tomorrow, let's all meet in the NCR for a little "Hot Cross Buns"
